The International Biannual of Engraving Museum

The International Biannual Museum of Engraving is to be found in the Museum Centre in Acqui Terme, at the old castle. The Museum hosts temporary exhibitions of the rich collection of works held here.

The Biannual Museum contains some 3,000 works – engraving on copper or zinc, acquatints, wood engravings in black and white or colour, black traditional or berceau, wax, dry point, acid, mezzotint, colofonia, relief copper engraving, linograph, rolled, multilayer, intaglio or burin.

The collection includes works by some of Italy’s leading engravers including Barbisan, Beuchat, Calandri, Castellani, Della Torre, Donna, Mastroianni, Spacai, Napoleone, Kantor, Ruggeri, Scano, Locci, Facchinetti, Ferroni, Mezzadra, Menegon, Morena, Missieri, Rampinelli, Aime, Cotugno, Disertori, Quadrio, Turria, Ceschin and Zaiiani. There are also notable works by foreign artists.

There is also a section devoted to engraved plates. The Museum is home to a library that specialises in contemporary engraving with many artists’ catalogues and papers.

Cataloguing and archival responsibilities are handled by the Biannual Association, whose President is Dr. Giuseppe Avignolo. Also responsible are Dr. Giorgio Frigo, Honorary Curator and Dr. Patrizia Uccelli, Collection Director.
